The Tragedy of Johnathan Majors

Hailing from humble beginnings, Johnathan Majors has captured the hearts of audiences with his undeniable talent and dedication to his craft. From his early days acting in plays during High School to his accomplishments at Yale to stardom in Hollywood, Majors’ journey is both heartbreaking and inspiring. This

article is not to dive deep in his life or to form some type of documentary.  “Oh no!”  This is a self-contained cautionary tale for young black men who seek fame and fortune.  Be wary, the snares and traps around you.  They are meant to accelerate your fall.

Epic Rise: A Worthy Prodigy

Johnathan Majors had already been on the rise as a favorite in movies on tv shows.  I remember when I first saw his acting was on Spike Lee’s Netflix movie, Da 5 Bloods.  If you haven’t seen it, the movie follows some Vietnam war veterans through those same jungles to not also find the remains of their fallen leader, but also a buried treasure.  His acting in this movie was incredible.  The man showed a power of command over his emotions.  The scene where he realized he stepped on a landmine and the wave of emotions expressed during that scene could be felt through the screen.  It’s as if acting was as normal as breathing to him.  I knew he would be a hot commodity, and I was proven right when the next time I saw him, he was on an HBO miniseries called Lovecraft Country.  That show follows Majors playing a man looking for his father across the segregated south.  This was a lead role for him and, with support from the late Michael Williams, Jurnee Smollett, and Courtney B. Vance.  I saw Majors again on Netflix, playing in a black western called: The Harder They Fall.  He was in this movie with stars like Idris Elba and Regina King.  I saw him again in Creed3 acting alongside Michael B. Jordan. After that I saw him in Marvel playing Kang the Conqueror in Ant Man and the Wasp. The point I’m making is his career was on a fast track.  What makes him great is his versatility, his energy, his work, ethic, and commitment.  By 2022 he may as well been a household name His portfolio was looking really good and future projects with him were well secured.

Now you might have been wondering about that whole, abusive relationship thing.  Let’s get into that.  I believe that everyone has a standard.  That being said, you can’t change anyone.  Change comes from within kind of metaphor.  And the more you try to fight what you know is true, the harder it is to accept it.  A love conquers all kind of metaphor.  And what does this ambiguous abstract universal constant have to do with these two? The answer lies with @unwinewithtashak

Now these two met at the most magical place on earth. Thats right. They met at Disney by way of Marvel during filming for The Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania. Johnathan Majors was playing Kang. Jabbari was a dancer on the same movie. By whatever means these two souls connected is by any means other than the magic of Disney.

“Solve that equation”

But they have both classified their relationship as unhappy. The marvel movie filmed back in 2021, and I speculate their interactions started getting more interactive around the fight scenes. Now there really wasn’t any news about them onset or from any insider sources, so it’s safe to say they kept their relationship internal. In fact, this whole incident is the only thing that was presented about it, or any truly negative press. I look at just how much evidence has been given and how much I read about them, what little I actually found, and came to this conclusion. The man got caught up in the wrong atmosphere. That’s the magic of the movies for you. There is a sort of culture surrounding theater. If you ever go on a movie set, it may sound as though you are learning a new way of life, and you are. I call it lo movie speech and high movie speech. There’s lingo and etiquette for the cameraman, the light crew, the fashion department, to the very actors. It’s common that people within this culture getting together all the time, and just as fast as they are together, everything falls apart. Now without giving away too many trade secrets, it would seem as though this was the world in which these two met and got together. So common a thing is often time told in tabloids and are often time not even mentioned on mainstream, and yet This was blown up for the world to see by the mainstream media. There is an underlining factor here that I believe caused a lot of what happened to Johnathan Majors in terms of his career. It was the arresting officers. They It would seem as though they had already made up their mind about Majors and thus the trap presented itself.

“The evidence is clear, and the stage is set. Thus, for everything good and evil these events are laid before you.”

The Tragedy

Narweed Sawar is an uber driver in Manhattan. His vehicle is a black Cadillac Escalade which he keeps in pristine condition for the sake of his customers. He gets a pick-up in Chinatown, a young mixed couple. The young lady looks wasted, and the man looks, embarrassed. Narweed minds his business and pays attention only to the road. As the lively Pakistan native drove on to the desired destination he was forced to endure a rather rambunctious exchange behind him. The young couple are Johnathan Majors and Grace Jabbari. Narweed must have thought these two were together for years the way she grabbed his phone. She accused him of cheating on her and smacked the shit out of Majors as he still had his hands on the phone firmly in protest to her action. Narweeds eyes, still on the road, could have popped out his head given how wide they got when he heard it. She got more and more aggressive and spatting more and more insults, and Majors took all he could. The poor guy begged Narweed to let him out. Narweed stops and unlocks the door, and Majors attempts to leave but Jabbari went after him. Majors attempted the reverse Uncle Phil method, but Jabbari’s bounce back abilities due to her rigorous training at Berklee she laid hand on Majors and prevailed over him. Hell has no fury like a woman scorned. Frustrated and out of options, Majors begins to walk away, and Jabbari grips on to him by the hand. Johnathan tears away from her and he runs from her. Jabbari gives chase but ultimately, he is too fast for her. He gets away from her, and she is all alone, for now.

Hurt, angry, and scorned, Jabbari goes to Loosies at the Moxley Hotel to drown her sorrows. I can only imagine what was going through her head at this moment in time, but so many mistakes would be made tonight, and I believe that one of those thoughts was that she didn’t care. I also believe that Jabbari wanted to elevate her career and being with Johnathan Majors definitely helped her. See the rat race is the same even in this culture, and it looks a lot different. The steps taken to get to certain positions are different for everyone, and anyone who is anyone knows this. You play your position right with the circle your presented, you become a person of influence amongst your peers. So many careers have been made and broken because of this fellowship type structure. So many changed by it.

You can’t change anyone, without changing their environment. It’s true a person chooses to change but it doesn’t mean they can’t be influenced. It is a well-known fact that the behaviors and actions of a person is a direct reflection of their environment pressed upon them indirectly. Jabbari wasn’t always so angry, and suspicious. She didn’t feel like everything she did was wrong, and that she didn’t have to walk on eggshells all the time because she fell in love with someone who she probably felt didn’t love her. She may have been thinking a lot of things as she sat at the bar, inhibitions washed away by a $800.00 bottle of champaign that she ordered off of Majors credit card. Somewhere in those two years of Being with Johnathan, she started to be someone she didn’t recognize. He just wasn’t the guy she thought he was. Miles away on the upper eastside, Johnathan was probably thinking the same thing as he settled into a hotel. He might have been thinking that since he got away from her that night that he would be giving her time to cool down. He knew he’d have to go home, and he knew he would see her again.

The next morning around 11 am, Majors returns to his apartment. He tried to get into the bedroom, but the door was locked. He called for a handyman to open it. When he opened it and went in, he saw Jabbari, face down in his closet unconscious. Her threats became all too real it would seem, and Majors immediately called 911. NYPD were first on the seen following him to his apartment and up to the third floor. Majors moved with a sense of urgency. The officers however did not show as much urgency as Majors had to stop several times for them to catch up.

Jabbari begins to regain consciousness. As if released from a spell, she is trying to make sense of her surroundings. She hears someone calling her name. The voice sounds funny. She doesn’t recognize it. It’s loud. Her eyes begin to focus. She’s in a room. It’s getting clear. There is someone standing over her. She’s in her boyfriend’s closet. Her eyes fully adjust. She’s in Johnathan’s closet and he called the police. She has no idea what happened after she went to Loosies. She was past the point of wasted and into the realm of the spirits. The shattered pieces of memory lay scattered across her mind as she scrambles to put the pieces back together. And she remembered the text.

“Wish I Was Kissing You Right Now”

The words were written across a void in her mind and for a split second she could focus on the letters form and disappear across the air. Reality finally sets in. She can’t remember everything but what she can remember is just as equally bad. An officer assists her to sit upright, and she leans on the same officer which stays situated behind her. He does not mind her using his legs for support. All her emotions rushed at once and she was overcome. She began to tell a similar story about what happened in the SUV. She admitted to grabbing his phone and how he shoved her into the car. At first, she says that she didn’t know how she even got to the apartment. The cops were convinced that Major’s was the aggressor and never really took notice of him saying that she scratched him and had the scratch mark to prove it. The NYPD wanted Johnathan Majors. So, he was arrested on assault charges.

Every good story has a great villain. And the villain here, is the legal system. The mainstream media acts as their little minion. The legal system can work against you even if you’ve done nothing wrong. Anything you say and do can be used against you. This dynamic duo vilifies whom it chooses and uses the media to spread their persuasion. All the evidence was laid in front that Majors had not been the aggressor. He had proven without doubt that he acted in self-defense. He was still found guilty from a jury of his peers after four hours of deliberation. I want you to understand the gravity of this situation. The jury did not believe anything Jabbari had to say about the SUV incident. Majors was pronounced guilty nonetheless because the jury believe that he acted reckless in some way. Disney separated from him like he had leprosy. It would seem that Quantumania would be the only Marvel movie Majors would be in. As a matter of fact, they would decide to drop Kang altogether and go with Dr Doom as the next big bad. And who do they get to play Dr Doom?

“Till you’re 90 RDJ!””

Anyway, paramedics took Jabari to the Bellevue Hospital for treatment for her injuries and a toxicology report. Johnathan Majors went to jail. Later on, He would be found guilty of a third-degree misdemeanor and was sentenced to probation. Not A felony, a third-degree misdemeanor. They might as well give him a traffic ticket.

I’ve often heard the phrase; you can’t help who you love. That’s complete crap. That’s a diehard statement from someone who loves pain. Love changes a person, and I don’t care what anyone says, you can help the person you love. People choose to stay in their situations. Sometimes its pressed on a person. While physical abuse may not have been the case between them, verbal and emotional abuse was. The truth is Majors wanted an end to their relationship and Jabbari refused. What we witnessed was the defamation of a black man who got involved with a white woman. The racial motivation, the prejudice in the initial investigation of the matter, right down to the guilty verdict by the jury was made to damage Majors. His side has yet to be truly flushed out and held into account. It seems nobody cares about anything other than the fact that this still strong black bull is tamed and not out here beating on white women.

The evidence was enough to exonerate him of any wrongdoing. In a normal world this case would have not even happened. But this world is different and easier to offend. I therefore ask those who are reading this, how long will it be before we realize that this is a way to give us a glimpse as to the attitude of our legal system? Does this not show exactly how the mainstream media distorts narratives and twist them into a ball of confusion? A man suffered a blow to his career, was martyred right in front of us, during March madness. By the end of the 2023 year, he was all but crucified. He is on a new movie project called Merciless. It will be his first since his conviction and I will be at the movies when it comes out in support of Majors. This story deserves our attention not as just an audience but as a people calling ourselves United States citizens. Was his conviction justified, or coerced? Was he a monster or a victim? If the legal system and mainstream media does this to those in positions like Johnathan Majors, even considering he called 911 to make sure Jabbari was ok, did the system act in fairness? Are we really still battling racism in 2024? I’m eager to see the comments.
